HISTORY

  • The Wildlife Care Clinic was established in 1984 under the direction of Dr. Caroline Runyon.
  • The ISU Veterinary College has donated the space for the clinic which is otherwise a completely nonprofit organization.
  • Dr. Runyon's goal in establishing the clinic was to provide students at the College of Veterinary Medicine with experience in wildlife medicine. Dr. Runyon had a special interest in wildlife medicine and became self taught, but specialized in small animal surgery. She and several veterinary students administered care to raptors and the occasional mammal or songbird.
  • The Wildlife Care Clinic runs on donations and income from educational programs. All moneys go directly to the benefit of our wildlife patients in terms of medications, diagnostics, surgery, and food.
