AMERICAN KESTREL
American Kestrels, or sparrow hawks,
are roughly the size of a blue jay. They are one of the few raptor
species in which the males differ in appearance from the females.
The males have a grey/blue on their wings while the females lack
this coloring.
American Kestrels make their nests in old tree nesting holes and
hollows from other birds. Approximately 3 to 7 eggs are laid from
April to June.
The young leave the nest 30 days after hatching.
